Interestingly, conquering the ‘roof of Indochina’ is no longer out of reach since the Fansipan cable car route appeared. If you want to take the Fansipan cable car, don’t skip this post from Vietnampeace.com.

Ways to take the Sapa Fansipan cable car

Located about 3km northwest of downtown Sapa, you can easily reach the cable car station using various means of transportation such as buses, motorbikes, walking, taxis, and even the special Muong Hoa train. Let’s explore!

If taking the bus: You can catch bus route number 05 and travel from the Stone Church area in Sapa to the station with a ticket price of 10,000 VND per trip per passenger. With 18 stops for passenger pickup and drop-off (8 stops on the outbound route and 10 stops on the return route), you might have to wait quite a while. However, the travel cost will be much cheaper, only 10,000 VND.

If riding a motorbike: Typically, motorbikes can’t go directly inside and have to be parked at the parking area of the Sunworld Fansipan Legend tourist complex. From the parking lot, you can continue inside using electric cars. However, Vietnampeace notes that the road is tricky and dangerous, so if you’re a first-time visitor to Sapa, this method isn’t recommended. After all, safety is the most important.

If taking a taxi: This is considered the most convenient way because local drivers are familiar with the roads, so you won’t waste time navigating with the driver. The fare for a one-way trip usually ranges around 100,000 VND and takes about 10 minutes due to the winding and constantly sloping roads in Sapa, which prevents speeding and ensures safety.

If walking: With a distance of about 3km northwest, walking is also a suitable way to travel, especially for those who want to exercise and admire the scenery. If you choose to walk, you can start from downtown Sapa, stroll along the Stone Church on Thac Bac Street for about 1km, then turn left at Nguyen Chi Thanh Street and walk another 2km to the Fansipan cable car station. If you’re in good health, you should choose this option, as it can be exhausting.

If taking the Muong Hoa mountain railway: This is considered to be particularly special because everyone knows that this mountain railway journey is honored as the most modern mountain railway route in Vietnam up to the current time. Since its official operation, the Muong Hoa mountain railway journey, with its vibrant red appearance and classic design reminiscent of European fairy tale trains, has made reaching the cable car station easier, taking only 6 minutes from the Muong Hoa Valley to the cable car. The round-trip ticket price for the train is 100,000 VND per person.

– Children under 1m are free of charge

You can purchase tickets directly at the Sunworld Fansipan Legend ticket counter at the cable car station area or online through the tourist area’s website, and both are acceptable.

Additionally, you can buy tickets through Sunworld’s agents with the option of delivery to your hotel or convenient online booking. The plus point of purchasing tickets this way is that you’ll quickly get more discounts.

When is the Best Time to Take the Fansipan Cable Car?

The unique point is that you can take the Fansipan cable car in any season of the year to reach the ‘roof of Indochina.’ Sapa is likened to the Dalat of the North with the experience of enjoying the four seasons in one day in the fresh air of the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain forest.

In spring, usually from February to April, you can climb the mountain in the Gregorian calendar, then visit the temples here and pray for peace in the new year for your family and loved ones. If you see the peak of Fansipan in spring, you can especially admire the blooming wild peach blossoms throughout the Northwest mountains and enjoy the cool, crisp air.

If you visit Fansipan in the early summer, falling between May and July in the Gregorian calendar, you will enjoy the fresh, cool air. Moreover, clusters of rhododendron flowers bloom vividly in a corner of the sky, or pink grass, climbing roses, sunflowers, morning glory, or mountain camellias compete to show off their colors like graceful dances welcoming everyone to the highland of Hoang Lien Son.

Returning to Fansipan in the months of August to October, you will have the opportunity to admire a radiant Sapa with the shiny golden dress of the ripe terraced fields. This scenery will surely leave a lasting impression.

On winter days, if you’re lucky, you will be greeted by the early snowflakes on the peak of Fansipan, creating a magnificent picture as the Hoang Lien Son range seems to sink into sleep with the pure white coat of snowflakes and the chilly air making people reluctant to leave.

Moreover, the Sunworld Fansipan Legend tourist area regularly organizes a series of cultural festivals and events throughout the four seasons of the year on a grand and unique scale, bringing a clearer view of the beauty in the cultural life of the local people, such as the rhododendron festival, ripe rice festival, horse racing on clouds event, winter festival, flower horn festival, etc.

What to Bring When Going to Fansipan?

– Warm clothing: Don’t forget to bring warm items like jackets, scarves, and gloves if you’re going to Fansipan, as the climate at the peak of Fansipan is always cold, whether winter or summer.

– Medical supplies such as fever-reducing medicine, ointment, bandages, and logo to use immediately if experiencing conditions such as heat shock, scratches, etc.

– Remember to bring cash because the services at Fansipan Peak don’t accept banking payments, and there are no ATMs here.

– Bring light snacks if you’re hiking to the summit because this can be tiring and lead to dehydration.

– Bring photography and communication devices such as phones and cameras to capture exquisite moments when conquering the ‘roof of Indochina.’

If you’ve spent considerable time taking the Fansipan cable car, you won’t ride the cable car, right? Don’t worry about not having anything to do here because a series of unique activities awaits you.
